Greek Corinthian Helmet
This is an authentic reproduction of the medieval helmets worn by the Hoplite – the warriors of Ancient Greece made in brass finish with red crest. This helmet originated in Greece in the 7th Century B.C. and was later adopted by the Romans. It was a popular style all the way up to the 4th Century B.C. and was the basis for many Helmets of the Renaissance Period. These medieval helmets were designed to be close-fitting. Shaped to the skull with only small openings left for the eyes, nostrils and mouth. This design allowed for maximum protection, visibility and air flow. And it must have been a terrifying sight to the enemy. This helmet is made of hand-forged 18 gauge, low carbon mild steel. This metallurgical composition provides excellent resilience, durability and will polish to high sheen.In the early 4th to 7th Century B.C. the Greek Corinthian Helmet was favored and used for a long period by ancient Greeks.
